چکیده

Present distribution grids generally have limited sensing capabilities and are therefore characterized by low observability. Improved observability is a prerequisite for increasing the hosting capacity of distributed energy resources such as solar photovoltaics (PV) in grids. In this context, paper presents learning-aided low-voltage estimation using untapped but readily available widely sensors from cable television (CATV) networks. The broadband offer timely local voltage magnitude with 5-minute resolution can provide an order more data on time-varying state secondary system than currently deployed utility sensors. proposed solution incorporates readings neighboring CATV sensors, taking into account spatio-temporal aspects observations, estimates single-phase magnitudes at all non-monitored buses random forests. effectiveness approach was demonstrated multi-phase 1572-bus feeder SMART-DS set two case studies - passive (without PV) active (with PV). analysis conducted simulated data, results show high degree accuracy, even extremely percentages observable nodes.

Integration of Distributed Energy Resources in Low Voltage Electricity Networks

The introduction of distributed energy resources (DER) is leading to significant changes in the way in which power systems are planned, operated and maintained. DER includes many different types of technology, ranging from producers of electricity such as microgeneration units to consumers of electricity such as heat pumps and electric vehicles. High penetrations of these new technologies are i...

Sensitivity-Based Model of Low Voltage Distribution Systems with Distributed Energy Resources

A key issue in Low Voltage (LV) distribution systems is to identify strategies for the optimal management and control in the presence of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs). To reduce the number of variables to be monitored and controlled, virtual levels of aggregation, called Virtual Microgrids (VMs), are introduced and identified by using new models of the distribution system. To this aim, th...

Dynamic Voltage Regulation Using Distributed Energy Resources

Many distributed energy (DE) resources are near load centers and equipped with power electronics converters to interface with the grid, therefore it is feasible for DE to provide ancillary services such as voltage regulation, nonactive power compensation, and power factor correction. A synchronous condenser and a microturbine with an inverter interface are implemented in parallel in a distribut...

Voltage and Frequency Droop Control in Low Voltage Grids by Distributed Generators with Inverter Front-end

In recent years, an ongoing increase of grid-connected distributed and renewable electricity generation technologies is clearly noticeable. From an environmental perspective, the increase of renewable technologies is highly desirable, as they do not emit greenhouse gasses and thus not contribute to climate change. Nevertheless, their increase poses increasing challenges on the reliable operatio...
